About me
Scottish Gaelic: Àrasaig, meaning"the safe place".

This is what Scotland has always been for me; the place I go to think, to take stock and to feel at home. This blog is all about my travels and experiences in Scotland and beyond.

I've always loved the outdoors, I grew up in Dumfries and Galloway and spent my childhood building dens and riding horses. It wasn't until I moved to London in my 20's that I realised how much the outdoors defined me, without it I was lost.
After moving to Brighton in 2010 I started to rediscover my love for the outdoors; I started riding again, I got a (very old, slightly decrepit) bike and spent weekends exploring the coast and the South Downs.
When I moved back to Scotland in 2012 and went on my first solo trip to Arran, just me and my bike, I realised how important it was to me and how good it made me feel. I also discovered what a wonderful playground Scotland is.

Since that trip to Arran I've made it my mission to see as much of Scotland as possible. I'm never happier or more relaxed than when I leave my worries in the city and disappear into Scotland, whether that's on my bike, in our trusty old Land Rover or on my paddle board - there's nothing like it!
